Hiya! It's been a while since my first blog post. Before I begin the main agenda, I will like to say that I am continuously updating my website. As you can see, I am actively adding more projects and works that I have done. Please don't mind the major changes that will occur in the next coming weeks. Without further ado, let's move onto the main agenda!
Thank You Avermedia!
I will like to say thank you to Avermedia for sending me a review copy of their ET110 (VGA to HDMI) Converter. About two months ago, I signed up for their ET11X Series(Converter) User Experience Compilation program, and I applied to review the ET110 converter, one of their products.
To my surprise, I was one of the 30 selected people to review this product. What a joy!
Product Box opening
Finally, a packaging that actually didn't cut your fingers! My experience with opening packages and boxes usually resulted in three things: messy Styrofoam, inadequate wrapping, and inability to open without a pair of scissors. I was glad that I didn't have to experience those factors again.
Like every other product, it came with an instruction manual and the product, itself. The instruction manual was self explanatory: plug and play. The converter came with three connectors: a USB connector, audio jack, and a VGA connector. These connectors were conveniently spliced together to become one. On the other end of the converter contained an HDMI port. This was where an HDMI cable hooked into. Before you wonder where the HDMI cable is, let me tell you that the converter does not come with an HDMI cable. So, be sure to have one beforehand!
Hooking up
Hooking up the converter was easy, but there's a catch. My first impression of this product was that the connectors were too short. Although, the HDMI cable provided the distance, the converter couldn't provide enough distance for my Lenovo W530 workstation laptop. See, my VGA port and USB ports were structured on the left side of my laptop. Yet, my audio port was built on the right side of my laptop. This meant that there were barely enough room and space to reach on both sides. That was my pet peeve for this product.
Other than that, the product worked exactly as it described. I was able to turn my laptop, which didn't have a HDMI port, into the same aspect ratio as my monitor which was 16:9. I will no longer need to struggle to find a VGA cable and compatible display device and showcase my projects in a low quality resolution. Say goodbye to 5:4 aspect ratio and hello to 16:9 aspect ratio!
